Saturday, February 20 An Event sponsored by the Jaguar Owners Club of Los Angeles Here's a Bulletin I got from Steve Kirby, JOCLA: Our third annual event is coming along nicely. Here are more details. As usual, we will meet at Cars and Coffee in Irvine between 7am and 9am. Again we will have the exclusive “up-front” parking lot reserved. Even if you can’t make the run, please bring your car to Cars and Coffee so we can again overflow the parking lot and show all those other car owners how a REAL car club celebrates its marque. We’ve arranged for a professional photographer to be on hand to document “the Epic Journey” including photos in the parking lot. After enjoying the show, we’ll hit the trail on roads never before travelled during earlier events. Along the way we’ll see some “Epic” sights with roots in British history. First will be the Blimp Hangars in Tustin. It’s now possible to get “up close and personal” with these relics of World War II (we’re not yet saying how up close). Our photographer will get a shot of you and your car with the Hangars in the background. For more info on the blimp hangars, visit http://www.militarymuseum.org/MCASTustin.html We’ll be motoring mostly northward on this tour, but you can expect some interesting detours and NO FREEWAYS. We’ll wind up at another Epic site, the Queen Mary in Long Beach, where we will have lunch. But before we do, we’ve arranged for a group shot on the dock next to the ship. What could be more British? Who knows, maybe we’ll make it into the Guinness Book of World Records? Lunch will be in the newly remodeled Windsor Room and as always will be FREE, as will entry onto the ship, which you are free to tour after lunch (thanks to our sponsors). There is a charge of $12 to park in the public lot (sorry, I couldn’t get that comped). Yes, the Trivia Contest will be back, the prizes will better than ever. The raffle will also return, with some amazing “stuff” and this year will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We’ll have a special guest from CF that I think you will find fascinating. The event will end after lunch and the 710, 405, 5, 10 and 91 freeways are nearby, so no matter where you are coming from, it’s a straight shot home. Mark your calendar NOW! To sign up and get on the email update list, email me now at sackirby@pacbell.net or call me at (949) 579-9808 x201. I need an accurate count for lunch. You must reserve your spot. Saturday, March 13 Sponsored by the Classic Jaguar Association 2875 Junipero Ave The Classic Jaguar Association has enjoyed a long history of holding a small, convivial swap meet for members and friends. This year they would like to open up this unique event to owners, enthusiasts, and vendors of all classic British marques. Many of their members belong to multiple car clubs, and their Jaguar motorcars share with other British marques a common bond with many interchangeable parts, tools, etc. Let’s all clean out our garages, bring our old parts as well as our wish lists, and make this a truly unique event. CJA will provide coffee and donuts. For Additional Info visit: http://www.classicjaguar.org Contact:
Friday - Saturday, April 23 - 24 Here's a letter I got from President Don Becker regarding the event (Stick): "The Classic Jaguar Association will hold our 42nd annual Spring Meet at the beautiful Inn at Morro Bay on April 23-24, 2010. We have had several great Spring Meets at the Inn in the past, and they have been very accommodating to us for 2010 by actually reducing the room rates from what we paid in 2007! This will be the weekend immediately preceding the Jaguar Western States Meet that will be in nearby Santa Maria that starts on Monday April 25. The Inn at Morro Bay is holding 30 rooms for our event from $99 for a Petite Queen, $129 for a Pool and Garden View King and $159 for a Bay View King with spa. You should contact them directly at (800) 321-9566 to make your reservations and be sure to mention the Classic Jaguar Association for the special room rates.. They will hold these rooms for us only until March 23, so why not call them now? We will have a gathering on Friday evening before dinner on your own. On Saturday we will have the annual “Early Bird” breakfast run followed by some tire kicking before we take off on a tour of the Central Coast and lunch that will be organized by Dan Dunham. After returning we will have dinner planned at the Inn. Information on the tour and Saturday dinner will be available soon after the New Year.
On Sunday you can spend a leisurely day and drive over to Santa Maria and be well rested for the events of the Western States Meet beginning on Monday. Best regards, Don Becker" If you are interested in attending, please contact Don at: 949) 246-8777 The cutoff date for the tour and Saturday dinner will be one week before.
